September 19-25 is Science Literacy Week and we are celebrating it at the Leddy Library.
There are many reasons to be literate in the sciences. One good reason is to have, on-hand, the ability to ask good questions when reading dramatic news headlines. On the first floor of the main building of the Leddy Library, you can find a display on this topic by Selinda Berg, liaison librarian for Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Is there something you're curious about? Do you have an interesting, engaging or even amusing research question? If so submit it to the Leddy Library Research Question Competition for a chance to win one of three 50$ prizes!
Submissions are open from September 12th - 30th.
Thanks to the support of the President’s Office and the grand success of last year’s “Why Humanities” Week, we are very excited to announce that Humanities Week will take place September 12-16th! In a popular repeat from last year’s event, students will have an opportunity to win a semester of free tuition by submitting their take on What do the Humanities Mean to You? Entrants are asked to produce a video, essay, poem or proclamation outlining the importance and value of the humanities.
The Fall 2016 Leddy Library Reading Challenge is a social group for ALL members of the University of Windsor community. Meetings are every Tuesday from 3-4 p.m. until the beginning of December!
The main objective of this group is to create a larger sense of community on campus while allowing for students, faculty, and library staff to share a social-academic space for critical thinking and literature review.

On May 17th publishing giant Elsevier announced it had acquired the Social Science Research Network (SSRN). This potentially marks a major change in scholarly communications landscape and is the first time a large academic publisher has stepped into the repository landscape. The stated benefits of this change include potential integration with existing platforms such as Scopus and the Mendely - another relatively recent purchase by Elsevier.

A retrospective on the career of a Chatham athlete who broke multiple racial barriers in the early 20th century will be featured on the Leddy Library’s Centre for Digital Scholarship website in 2017.
The University of Windsor’s Leddy Library invites applications for a 12-month limited-term Information Services Librarian – Nursing Liaison position commencing as early as July 1, 2016.
