Series 1 offers 340,000 issues from over 730 historical American titles. Focusing largely on the 18th and early 19th centuries, this online collection is based on Clarence S. Brigham’s “History and Bibliography of American Newspapers, 1690-1820” and other authoritative bibliographies.

The library has a long history of collecting research at the institutional level. We have a responsibility for the collection of our graduate theses and dissertations. We have also always collected faculty publications albeit through subscriptions. However the emergence of open access means that we have begun to collect faculty content in a way that we didn't have to previously.

When talking about open access and the new Tri-Council and Windsor policies with faculty (http://leddy.uwindsor.ca/university-windsor-senate-passes-open-access-policy) there are some common questions we encounter. We are developing an FAQ, however in this post I'd like to address the question of author rights, publishing and article posting policies. 

New and existing users of our institutional repository from the University of Windsor can now login to Scholarship at UWindsor with their existing UWIN ID and password! This makes it easier for you to get started and to continue to add content to the repository. Existing accounts made with your UWIN ID will automatically be synced on first login.

There are a variety of ways in which authors can make their research available open access. As authors you are not simply restricted to trying to use a small set of journals that may not suit your research. This video discusses the variety of options for making research available OA. On March 28th the University of Windsor hosted the Essays of Significance and Critical Reflections graduate and undergraduate philosophy conferences. Thanks to the excellent work of organizers Katherine Sulatycki and Erin Plumb who made this possible. Participants for both the undergrad and graduate conference came from Canada, the United States and even several participants from overseas.
