Sorry state of ill-informed and decontextualized debate on @BLM_TO necessitates a #BlackLivesCDNSyllabus. Suggestions? cc: @ABRNetwork

To celebrate Black History Month, the Leddy Library is sharing The Left Bank Books` Black Lives Matter Reading List. The Left Bank Books bookstore is located in St. Louis, Missouri.
This is a community curated list of books, poems, articles and blog posts that explore race, not only in St. Louis, but America as a whole. By no means a full comprehensive list, here are a few to get you started on the trail of understanding what's happening.
For this month's installment of shared reading lists we have Leddy Library's own Yvonne Arnowitz who was kind enough to share some of her favourite good reads with us!
It’s always great to go back to the classics and revisit a forgotten time or place:
On Saturday, August 8, ProQuest will be upgrading its systems infrastructure to improve performance, security, and overall reliability of your products. The window is scheduled to begin at 10:00 PM Eastern Standard Time and will last for eight (8) hours. During this time, access to the Proquest databases that Leddy subscribes to will not be available. You can find a list of these databases at : http://leddy.uwindsor.ca/platform/proquest
The good people of University of Windsor's Employee Engagement & Development have just issued you a challenge: How many stairs can you climb in 20 days? Enough to reach the peak of Mount Everest? How about Mont Tremblant?
If you are looking for a good place to start stair climbing on March 11th, you could do well by trekking the heights of Leddy Library. The stairs from the basement to the 4th floor of our Main Building is made up of 90 steps, or 7.5 flights.
Sometimes the best features of the software you use are still waiting to be discovered - even after years of use. TIL (that's Internet lingo for Today I Learned) that Zotero has the option to generate simple reports for list making and other simple pleasures.
So, if you wanted to print out a list of your books in Zotero sorted by call-number, you can add the column that contains it by clicking the little icon in the top right corner of the middle Zotero panel:
I use Zotero (along with Evernote) to keep track of the readings and research I use for my work.
While I primarily use it to create bibliographies, I also use as a personal library of sorts. When I need to find a favourite article, I open up Zotero, do a search if necessary, and open the article on the web (that is, if I haven't already kept an archived copy along with my citation).
On November 1st 2012, the Leddy Library officially launched Scholarship at UWindsor, the University of Windsor’s (UW) institutional repository (IR). The mandate of Scholarship at UWindsor is to enable researchers in our campus community to showcase, preserve and provide open-access to a wide range of scholarly and creative works. This could include copies of published articles, conference papers, presentations, theses, videos of talks, musical scores, images and more.
GIS Day is held worldwide during Geography Awareness Week, November 17-23, 2013. As part of the celebration, the Academic Data Centre is hosting a GIS exhibit entitled "Discover Food Deserts in Windsor" running Friday, November 8 to Friday, November 22 in the Leddy Library.
It's Open Access Week and to celebrate, I thought I would try to calculate how much it would cost for me to read an article and its bibliography if I couldn't rely on the subscriptions that the Leddy Library currently pays for.
