As parades and celebrations took place around the world in June to celebrate Pride Month, Information Services Librarian Scott Cowan used his platform to highlight the importance of queer stewardship in Windsor-Essex to an international audience at the 2019 ALMS conference hosted in Berlin, Germany.

Over 400 participants from over 40 countries gathered to discuss the collection and preservation of materials of all types from LGBTQ2+ communities.

Leddy Library is aware of ongoing and intermittent problems with accessing PubMed and other NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information) websites on campus.

Users connecting to NCBI websites on the UWindsor network (wired & WiFi), are experiencing problems that present as: 

The University of Windsor has joined 13 other university libraries across Ontario to develop Collaborative Futures, an initiative led by the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) to build a next-generation library management system.

Every day the Leddy Library IT student consultants go out of their way to help Leddy Library patrons with technical support. Sporting the iconic blue IT vest, they are a significant component to the Systems Department in providing services to library users.
 
To recognize their outstanding contributions, Leddy Library has launched the inaugural Student Consultant Outstanding Service Award.
 

Take a break from the books and join us for our Brain Freeze & Button-Making Student Appreciation Day!

The Leddy Team will be set up outside the library from 2:00-4:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19 to hand out Freezies and help make buttons. Those who join the fun will also have the opportunity to win a Leddy Library prize.

Bring your favourite photos and designs or get crafty with the supplies provided by Leddy to make a custom button.

UWindsor alumna Devon Mordell (BFA 2004) has returned to her alma mater for a two-year term as digital scholarship and archiving librarian in the Leddy Library.

Mordell spent several years working in educational technologies and instructional design at McMaster University before completing her Master of Archival Science at the University of British Columbia’s iSchool.

While it’s true that librarians surround themselves with books each day, Heidi Jacobs will now see her name among the spines in the stacks.

Local students will have the opportunity to turn new pages of history this September — pages of a comic book, that is.

A 10-page comic book along with a teachers’ guide is the latest development to grow out of the Breaking the Colour Barrier: Wilfred (Boomer) Harding and the Chatham Coloured All-Stars project.
