The Leddy Library’s Academic Data Centre (ADC) is hiring (2) Data Centre Graduate Student Assistants to provide statistical software support and consulting during peak hours in the Academic Data Centre. The Data Centre Graduate Student Assistants will assist patrons in conducting statistical data analysis using any one of several statistical software packages. Most patrons are undergraduate and graduate students working on course assignments and independent research. Other duties as assigned to assist with data centre operations such as accessing, opening and reformatting data files and creating documentation. May include the opportunity to contribute to longer-term projects involving data management or archiving.
 
This position will be an excellent opportunity for a motivated student to gain experience as a statistical consultant and to learn new skills.
 
Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of statistics equivalent to having completed at least 3 courses at the undergraduate level or two at the graduate level.
  • Proficiency with at least one (preferably two) of: SPSS, SAS, R, Stata or ArcGIS.
  • Solid general computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent customer services skills and English language proficiency are required.

 
Time commitment:
10 hours a week - At least two weekday afternoons per week during the hours 1:00 – 5:00 pm. (Immediate start until April 2020).
