Leddy Library consists of two connected buildings containing multiple floors, diverse collections, specialized services, and a wide variety of student study spaces. There’s no shame in feeling overwhelmed, confused, or lost! We’re here to help. Below are some common questions about what’s in our building and how to find it.

I need a quiet workspace. Does the library have any study rooms?

We certainly do. We have a variety of study spaces ranging from personal study rooms and individual study carrels (desks with walls) to group study rooms and large tables in open spaces. Details and study room reservations can be found on our Find a Space webpage.

I need a place where my project group can talk. Does the library have any group workspaces?

We certainly do. We have a variety of study spaces ranging from group study rooms and large tables in open spaces to personal study rooms and individual study carrels (desks with walls). Details and study room reservations can be found on our Find a Space webpage.

What are the best places to study in Leddy Library?

Whether you're looking for natural light and a view or a secluded corner surrounded by books, early-21st century minimalism or a retro-1970s vibe, noise or silence, Leddy Library has got you covered.

Explore what we have to offer on our Find a Space webpage and feel free to roam both buildings, from basement to top floor, in order to find your special study space. You'll find tables and chairs in all sorts of nooks and crannies!

This place is confusing. Is there a map or tour?

Yes, there is a 3D Interactive Tour of the Library.

Additionally, our Find a Space webpage contains details about many library spaces, and you can see a few of them in this short 2013 video introduction to the library.

Where are the washrooms?

Main Building: there are washrooms on every floor (usually near the big centre stairwell) and all of them are wheelchair accessible.

West Building: there are washrooms in the basement (wheelchair accessible) and on the third floor (not wheelchair accessible).

Where are the printers and photocopiers?

Printers, photocopiers, and scanners are scattered throughout the library. Please see our Print and Copy webpage for details of these services and equipment.

Can I eat or drink in the library?

Drinks in closed containers (bottles or mugs with lids, etc.) are allowed anywhere in the library except in Archives & Special Collections.

Food may be eaten in the library cafe area on the main floor of the Main Building (to the right of the turnstiles, as you enter). Food should not be eaten anywhere else in the library.

The library does not have microwaves. (But the CAW Student Centre does, in its main floor eating area.)

When (or how long) is the library open?

Our hours change over the course of the academic year, with extended hours for studying during exam periods.

You can always find our up-to-date hours on the Leddy Library homepage, under “Today’s Hours.” (Click "View All Hours" to plan ahead.)

Can I put more money on my UWinCard in the library?

You unfortunately cannot add money to your card at the Leddy Library at this time. Cash or coin can be added to your UwinCARD using the Automatic Deposit Machine on the first floor of the CAW Centre next to the Information Desk or alternatively, you can add funds using your credit card through your UWinsite Student account. You can also add funds using either debit or credit card at the UwinCARD office.
