Bahamian Storytelling Chant
“Once upon a time was a ‘wery’ nice time; monkey chew tobacco and spit out lime.”
So once upon a time there indeed were the UWindsor CARISAns, and associates, who went on to create waves and nation-build across the planet.
And once upon a time those CARISAns, and associates, resided either at UWindsor dorms, offsite UWindsor housing, or abodes elsewhere in that
lovely city of Windsor, south of Detroit, Michigan, USA.
Some of those UWindsor residences still stand; others have not survived the long haul of time.
Where is Electa Hall where beautiful Claire from Guyana and lovely Madlyn from The Bahamas resided?
https://windsorite.ca/2015/03/demolition-planned-for-old-uwindsor-residence-electa-hall/ Alas, Electa is now flat green, full of geese. Lovely, though.
Cody Hall in whose belly the most jammin' parties were held by CARISA: Where art thou?
https://windsorite.ca/2011/06/universitys-abandoned-residence-cody-hall-slated-for-demolition/
Other halls, like Mac, are under care, and new residences continue to pop up. CARISAns Ted, Eddie and Don's rooms at Patricia and Riverside
are now The House on Riverside: Psychological Services and Research Centre.
Vanier Hall! Where did that sprawling student dining area go? Is meal scrip still used? Do students still have spontaneous food fights?
Laurier Hall, within which was my and Juliette's room with its panoramic view of a cemetery just across the street, remains -
but now with inclusion of UWindsor's International Student Centre at second floor. And the cheese stood alone. Because Brother Hall Mac,
Cody and the Quad are off limits or no more.
Anyway, do come with me and pictorially explore a bit of student life at UWindsor sites, from dat time.
