Joan Dalton arrived on the University of Windsor campus in 1978 to begin studies toward an MA in English. She added an MLIS degree at Western University before returning to Leddy Library to launch her professional career as an academic librarian.

An art installation on display this week in the Leddy Library honours Orange Shirt Day.   Located in the library’s main stairwell, the installation contains roughly 6,000 small orange shirts strung together to acknowledge the unofficial number of unmarked graves of Indigenous children found on the grounds of former residential schools in the U.S. and Canada.

Leddy adds rooms dedicated to student wellness

The Leddy Library surprised students this month with three new spaces designed to enhance their wellness. These spaces have been designated as “wellness rooms”: two in the main building on the second and third floors, and one in the west building on the third floor. Each room is equipped with dimmable lighting and cozy furniture to help students relax.

Deep in the basement of the Leddy Library lies a fascinating collection of manuscripts, photographs, and special published works. These archives will welcome the public to see historical highlights spanning from the 1600s to the 2000s during Doors Open Windsor.

Researchers had extra support at the Academic Data Centre in the Winter 2022 semester thanks to mathematics and statistics students. Nine students enrolled in the statistical consulting courses had the opportunity to assist in the centre to hone their skills and gain valuable hands-on experience.

With temperatures rising across Windsor-Essex County this week, Leddy Library’s geospatial data analyst, Carina Luo, designed a web application to raise awareness about climatic hazards in the area, particularly flooding and extreme heat.
