Contactless pickup and digital delivery services begin at Leddy Library

Contactless pickup and digital delivery services begin this week at the Leddy Library.

The library will now allow patrons to request and pick up physical loan materials via the library website. Patrons may place requests online for physical resources, with pickup dates beginning Friday, July 17.

In addition, digital delivery services will enable patrons to request electronic files of scanned material within the allowable copyright laws and fair dealing guidelines.

“Since the building closure in March, we’ve had to rely on the resources available in our online collection,” said university librarian Pascal Calarco. “We are happy to now resume the lending of our physical resources in a safe and timely manner.”

Contactless pickup and digital delivery will be available first to faculty and graduate students to meet time-sensitive research needs, and will later expand to all students, faculty, and staff.

“We’ve received many requests from our graduate and faculty members who require specific resources for research and course preparation,” Calarco said. “Once we have fulfilled these requests, will open up the services to the rest of the campus community.”

Digitization delivery and contactless pickup will be extended to all campus members in August.

Strict health and safety protocols to provide this service must be followed. The library requests patience from its patrons during this period: it may take up to two weeks from the time of a request to delivery of the materials.
