Research in the Humanities: An Introduction

The Humanities are a collection of disciplines that study the human condition from a philosophical or artistic perspective. They include History, Literature, Languages and Linguistics, Philosophy, Religion, Fine and Performing Arts, Ethics, Media and Cultural Studies, and are often integral to interdisiplinary programs such as Indigenous Studies, Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies, African and African Diaspora Studies, and Canadian Studies. An education in the Humanities can help studies think critically, develop creativity, and approach complex problems in constructive ways.

This series of short tutorials allows students in Humanities courses to learn how they can make the most of the resources and services available at the Leddy Library, to the benefit of their research projects – and ultimately to their grades and other learning outcomes. Over the course of five modules, students are introduced to the nature of a university research library and will begin to familiarize themselves with how to conduct academic Humanities research at the post-secondary level. Each module includes a short video (including an embedded quiz), and a list of additional resources.
