As we prepare for the launch of an exciting new service that will simplify borrowing between 16 Ontario University Libraries, we are making some changes to our loan policies.
Loan periods for most books in our collection will be changing to 120 days + unlimited renewals for all students, faculty and staff. This means that as long as you continue to renew your book online, users with active accounts can keep the book as long as you need.
Given the library's announced migration to Omni, our upgraded library system, we are unable to process renewals of items until Monday January 6th.
If you need to renew items and are unable to get to the library in person, you can also call us at 519-253-3000 ext. 3402.
In addition to renewals:
Summer is the perfect time to catch up on leisure reading, whether you’re reading beside the pool, at the park, or in the (air conditioned!) library. This year, make your summer reads really count by entering the Leddy Library’s Summer Reading Challenge!
For every book you read this summer, cast a ballot for a chance to win a special book-related prize. The more books you read, the greater your chance of winning!
There will be a free movie screening celebrating 100 years of Canadian film for National Canadian Film Day! Free popcorn and prizes will be provided!
Oxford Handbooks Online is a collection of authoritative, updated handbooks in 14 subject areas including classical studies, history, law, linguistics. music, neuroscience, psychology, religion, and more. The Leddy Library currently subscribes to a subset of handbooks on this platform but during this trial all the handbooks will be available.
In response to increased interest in streaming video and music services, the Leddy Library has arranged product trials for three products:
Happy Open Access Week!
One of the ways that the Leddy Library supports making access free to the reader, is by the support and hosting of scholarly journals, including openly licensed ones. The Leddy Library provides software, support and hosting services for academic journals, monographs, and conferences that manage the process from submission to publication.
We currently host the following journals:
Have you always wanted to write a novel? This November, you can write your book at the Leddy Library!
November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). NaNoWriMo is a non-profit organization that fosters community and support in creative endeavours.
The challenge is this: write a 50,000-word novel in 30 days! So many people get bogged down worrying about grammar and writing poignant prose that they can’t finish a novel. Write your first draft during NaNoWriMo, and the editing can wait until December!
