Guest Borrowing Privileges

The Leddy Library offers print borrowing privileges from our general collection to a diverse range of guests. To discover the specific borrowing and access privileges available to you, please select the user group below that most closely matches your situation.

Alumni

University of Windsor Alumni have free access to our general print collection as well as other selected resources. You can obtain a borrowing card when visiting the information desk at the library or you can present your UWindsor Alumni Card if you requested one from the Alumni office.

Alumni also have access to some our electronic databases which you can access on our alumni databases page.

Affiliated Borrowers

A Guest UwinCARD is available for persons affiliated with the University of Windsor to borrow material from the Leddy Library and the Don & Gail Rodzik Law Library free of charge.

Please be aware that affiliated borrowers are not able to use their library card to access online resources from off-campus or use Interlibrary Loan services. Please see our borrowing policies page for information about loan periods and policies. 

Guest UwinCARDs are available at no cost to the following affiliated groups:

  • Academie St. Cecile (faculty and elected students)
  • Active Canadian University faculty, students and staff
  • Assumption International Baccalaureate Program High School students
  • Assumption University (faculty and students)
  • Canterbury College (faculty and students)
  • CURBA Borrowers with valid library cards from their home institution.
  • Daimler Chrysler Automotive Research Centre (faculty and staff)
  • Indigenous Persons (Turtle Island)
  • International Joint Commission staff
  • Iona College (faculty and students)
  • Joint Ph.D. program in Education students
  • Lambton College faculty
  • Nursing Program Preceptors
  • Retired Canadian University faculty members
  • School of Social Work Field Instructors
  • St. Clair and Lambton College (faculty only)
  • U. of W. Giving Program (Chancellor’s Circle, Governor’s Club, President’s Council)
  • Visiting Professors and Post-Doctoral Fellows of Canadian institutions
  • Wayne State University faculty
External Borrowers

Adult residents (18+) with photo-identification and proof of address from Essex, Lambton, and Kent counties may purchase an External Borrowers Card.

$ 20.00 for 4 months borrowing privileges $ 50.00 for 1 year borrowing privileges

External Borrowers will be held financially responsible for any damage to Library materials. External Borrowers are subject to Leddy Library Loan Policies and will not be issued a new library card until all outstanding charges have been paid.

High School Students

High school students are eligible for free borrowing privileges at Leddy Library whether they are part of a visiting high school class or come to the library individually. 

To be eligible for a temporary borrowing card students must provide photo I.D./active high school student card and proof of address, an email address where they can be reached, and a phone number where they can be reached.

Arranging Borrowing for Class Visits

To ensure borrowing cards and accounts are prepared for your students prior to your visit, please submit the following information at least 2 weeks in advance in an excel file or word document:

Name of Teacher responsible for the class
Name of the High School
Names of all students
An email address for each student
A Phone Number where each student can be contacted

Staff will not have time to setup borrowing cards and accounts for each of your students on the day of their visit.
