Leddy Library Summer Reading Challenge

Summer is the perfect time to catch up on leisure reading, whether you’re reading beside the pool, at the park, or in the (air conditioned!) library. This year, make your summer reads really count by entering the Leddy Library’s Summer Reading Challenge!
For every book you read this summer, cast a ballot for a chance to win a special book-related prize. The more books you read, the greater your chance of winning!

Write Your Novel at Leddy this November!

Have you always wanted to write a novel? This November, you can write your book at the Leddy Library!

November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).  NaNoWriMo is a non-profit organization that fosters community and support in creative endeavours.

The challenge is this: write a 50,000-word novel in 30 days! So many people get bogged down worrying about grammar and writing poignant prose that they can’t finish a novel.  Write your first draft during NaNoWriMo, and the editing can wait until December!

Free Button-Making is Back!

WHEN: Thursday, June 21 from 2-4 PM

WHERE: Leddy Library’s ground floor, just when you walk into the library. You can’t miss it!

WHY: Release all your stress and worry into a button and then wear it with pride.

We will have magazines, coloured paper and markers for the creative types, and if you want to bring your own picture, you can do that too!  The diameter of a button printout is 2.56”.  Be sure to allow for the edge of the paper to curl under during the making of a button (the actual button ends up being 2.2”).

You can borrow more than books at the Leddy Library!

While we have a comprehensive collection of books and journal articles (both in print and online), we also have other things that you can either borrow or sign out from the Information Desk.

Items you can sign out (using your UWin card):

Fines to Food

The end of winter term is approaching and spring is just around the corner!

This year when you pay your library fines you’ll also be helping your fellow students in need! The campus food bank is in of need of healthy goods that meet the needs of our student population.

As a result, the Leddy Library is donating 10% of the fines we receive to the campus food bank so that they can help meet the needs of students here at the University of Windsor.

Exams are almost upon us, but don’t hit the panic button!  Instead, make your own button during one of our FREE button making sessions!

             Wednesday, April 4 - 2 PM – 4 PM

WHERE: Leddy Library’s front lobby. You can’t miss it!

FREE film screening on April 4th

The Leddy Library will be hosting a FREE movie screening for National Canadian Film Day!  There will be free popcorn!

The film is  “I’ve Heard the Mermaids Singing”, a quirky Canadian film from 1987 that was filmed in Toronto.  This year NCFD is showcasing women in Canadian film.  The writer and director of this movie, Patricia Rozema, is from Sarnia!

Take a break from studying to watch this (short—only 81 minutes) movie!  It’s a great stress-reliever, and your brain can use the break!

We’ve Doubled our Number of Group Study Rooms!

The Leddy Library is proud to say that we have doubled our number of group study rooms! That’s right – we have gone from four study rooms to eight!  We’ve been listening to feedback from our students and have worked tirelessly to carve out space for these new rooms.

Four of the study rooms are located on the 3rd floor of the Main building, three are on the 3rd floor Leddy West, and one is on the 2nd floor of Leddy West.

They’re first come first serve.  Drop by the Circulation Desk to check availability. You can “borrow” a group study room for 3 hours at a time.
