Dr. Andrzej Kurnicki, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Canada, visited the Leddy Library this Monday, March 26.
The University, and in particular Leddy Library, have enjoyed a warm and fruitful relationship with the Polish community in Windsor for over 16 years. We have hosted many exhibitions over the year, and additionally, our book collection has greatly benefited from generous annual donations from the Board of Directors of the Polonia Centre (Windsor) Inc. This year’s donation from the Polonia Centre allowed us to acquire books on Polish language instruction, Polish art and architecture, Polish cooking, and children’s books about Polish folk tales and fairy tales. It has also allowed us to add to our Polish history section with the purchase of biographies, autobiographies, and collections of published diaries and memories written by notable Polish historical figures. Additionally, we have expanded our literature section with the purchase of both new and classic works of fiction by Polish authors such as, Isaac Bashevis Singer, Witold Rybczynski, Czeslaw Milosz, Andrzej Stasiuk, Witold Gombrowicz, and many others.
In addition to visiting the Leddy Library, Dr. Kurnicki's itinerary included several other stops at the University of Windsor. For more information, read the University of Windsor’s Daily News article at: http://www.uwindsor.ca/dailynews/2018-03-27/ambassadorial-visit-confirms...
