Changes coming next month to the Leddy Library’s interlibrary loan (ILL) system will allow users to place requests from the academic search tool, Omni, with their UWindsor accounts.

Interlibrary loan, a service provided by the Leddy Library, allows UWindsor users to borrow material that is not available locally from other libraries around the world at no charge.

“We have offered this valuable service to our patrons for over 20 years,” said Shuzhen Zhao, head of the library’s Acquisitions and Bibliographic Services department. “However, working with our provincial partners we now have the opportunity to update our system and provide an improved user experience.”

On May 8, Omni will replace the previous system, Racer, allowing users to place requests using their UWin ID and see all their loan details through their Omni account.

“These changes will allow users to request books and electronic resources like journal articles from other libraries through one system,” added Zhao. “One of the main benefits our users will see is that all ILL requests can be placed through the library using your UWin Account and password just like other campus services.”

Submitting ILL requests through Omni will be a seamless process that is accessible when searching in our databases, or using the blank resource sharing request form.

System updates will be made automatically on Monday, May 8. Users who have bookmarked Racer may wish to update their bookmarks at that time.
