3-Day Used Book Giveaway

The Leddy Library will host monthly book giveaways this semester. Books will be available for free, however, donations are appreciated and will support student appreciation initiatives.   The book giveaways will take place in the main lobby on the following dates during the library’s regular operating hours:
Ten women will share their stories of immigration and adaptation to Canada through the focus of a pair of shoes in the Feb. 26 presentation “Taking New Steps.”

Shoe Project empowers new Canadian women to tell their stories

For 10 weeks, 10 women from across the globe met at the Leddy Library for their weekly Shoe Project workshop, a program designed to help newcomer women improve their language and communication skills through writing and public speaking. These women are now preparing to take the stage for the official Shoe Project performance.

No “swiping right” this Valentine’s Day: go to Leddy Library to be set up on a mystery date with a book!   The Leddy team has carefully selected and wrapped eligible books that are waiting patiently for their special readers. The identity of the book won’t be revealed until the book has been checked out and unwrapped.  
The Leddy library has pulled together materials celebrating 28 Black scientists in observance of Black History Month.

Librarian wins recognition for contributions to employment equity

Demonstrating a commitment to employment equity is something she tries to do every day, says associate university librarian Karen Pillon. “Equity is not something we just do when we sit down at an employment equity table and we say now we’re going to use it,” she says. “It really has to be life-long.”
