Statistics Canada: National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth
This study began in 1994 with children who were aged 0-11 and has been following them ever since. A new cohort of children aged 0 - 7 was added in 2008. Includes a number of tests and inventories; rich and detailed source for looking at everything from parenting styles to personality to educational outcomes. This survey began in 2000 with a group of 15 year olds and another of 18-20 year olds, and is still following them. It focuses on transitions through education and work. Data is only available through our Research Data Centre. The U.S. National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health

The National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1979 and the NLSY 1997 follow young adults' experiences as they grow up. Thousands of questions; rich and unwieldy. Unique feature: a follow-up survey to NLSY 79 that interviews children of the women in the original study, allowing the study of intergenerational effects. U.S. National Center for Education Statistics: Early Childhood Longitudinal Study
These surveys include a group followed from birth through kindergarten, and another group followed from kindergarten through 8th grade. They examine child development, school readiness, and early school experiences. The National Center for Education Statistics also has other education-focused longitudinal surveys such as the Education Longitudinal Study, and High School and Beyond. This collection at Harvard University includes some classic studies of developmental psychology, personality and cognition, such as the Terman Life Cycle Study of Children with High Ability 1922-1986, Kagan's Study of Temperament, 1987 - 1998, the Harvard Bereavement Study, 1965-1966, and many others including more recent studies.
