How to find a play:

Plays in the library

Leddy library has a large collection of plays, in print and e-book format, available in the library. Look for the playwright's name or the play's title in the Library's Omni Search. If you don't find the play, it may be available in one of our online databases.

Plays available in databases

Leddy Library provides access to full text plays in several different databases:

Drama Online
Leddy Library subscribes to the Core collection and the Playwrights Canada Press collection. Providing more than 1000 plays and greater than 100 monographs, from curriculum classics to contemporary works, this resource offers "Play Tools" including Character Grids, Words and Speech graphs and Part Books for a new way of engaging with plays for close study or for performance.
 
Asian American Drama

Contains 252 plays by 42 playwrights, together with detailed, fielded information on related productions, theaters, production companies, and more. Some 50% of these plays have never been published before. The database also includes selected playbills, production photographs and other ephemera related to the plays.

Black Drama - 1850 to Present

Contains approximately 1200 plays by 200 playwrights, together with detailed, fielded information on related productions, theaters, production companies, and more. The database also includes selected playbills, production photographs and other ephemera related to the plays.

North American Women's Drama

Contains 1021 plays by 247 playwrights together with detailed fielded information on related productions theaters production companies and more When complete the collection will include more than 1 500 plays of which some 20 have never been published before The database also includes selected playbills production photographs and other ephemera related to the plays.

Twentieth Century North American Drama

Contains 834 plays by 124 playwrights, together with detailed fielded information on related productions, theaters, production companies and more. The database also includes selected playbills, production photographs and other ephemera related to the plays. More than 100 of the plays are published here for the first time including a number by major authors.

Dance productions and documentaries by influential companies and performers of the 20th century. Containing 758 videos, Dance Online: Dance in Video selections cover ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, experimental, and improvisational dance, as well as pioneers of modern concert dance.
