The Leddy Library has compiled a reading list of fiction, memoirs, and poetry capturing the stories of 2SLGBTQIA+ people, and is displaying them in celebration of Windsor-Essex Pride Fest. The festival culminates in an event at Lanspeary Park on Sunday, August 7th.
The 2SLGBTQIA+ Stories collection features works for young adults and children, contemporary and classic, non-fiction and graphic novels. The library is also offering free buttons — be sure to stop by and pick one up.
The Leddy Library has also created displays on Pride history: one showing variations in the development of Pride flags, and another on Windsor’s 2SLGBTQIA+ heritage, in celebration of the city’s Pride Week.
The displays include a timeline that features such highlights as the Canadian Union of Public Employees winning municipal workers protections for sexual orientation, CJAM airing Windsor’s first gay-themed radio show, and the founding of Windsor Pride.
