Notice of Cancellation: Mintel Subscription Ending February 1, 2026

The Leddy Library will discontinue its subscription to Mintel effective February 1, 2026. This decision follows a careful review of usage, cost, and benchmarking against the offerings of our peer institutions. Mintel has seen extremely low use within our community, and its subscription cost is high. To ensure responsible stewardship of library resources, especially given the difficult financial situation that the University of Windsor is currently experiencing, we are focusing on tools that provide broader value and meet the needs of more users.  

The library will maintain access to comparable and robust market research alternatives, including:
  • IBIS World - Provides reports for Canadian and U.S. industries. Canadian industry reports include a provincial breakdown and economic profile for provinces. 
  • Marketresearch.com Academic - Provides information on products, trends, regions, demographics, industries, and companies through a variety of research and expert analysis.  
These resources offer similar information and will continue to support research in business, marketing, and related disciplines.  

Please note: The only circumstance under which we would consider extending Mintel for one additional year is if instructors require it for their students’ assignments during the Winter 2026 term. If we receive notice from instructors that this is the case, the subscription will end the following year.
