October 19th - 25th is Internation Open Access Week. It is an opportunity to draw attention to the need for free online access to publicly funded research and the ways in which institutions like the University of Windsor are making this a reality. When an article, book or other work is available open access, that means that anyone, anywhere can download it freely online.

  • Open Access research is accessible to scholars in underfunded regions
  • Open Access research is accessible to non-university organizations like government agencies, commercial organizations, and non-profits
  • Open Access research is accessible to all Windsor alumni and the general public
  • Open Access increases the impact and readership of your work
  • Open Access expedites information and knowledge transfer when it matters (See the Ebola crisis)

Each day this week the library will be focusing on a different aspect of open access at the University of Windsor along with a corresponding story in the University Daily news. Keep an eye out for more information and take a look at our Open Access guides here.

Today's story announces the launch of the library's Centre for Digital Scholarship: https://www.uwindsor.ca/dailynews/2015-10-16/centre-act-hub-digital-publishing
