Cybersecurity Month: Special Series for Researchers

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and with cyberattacks becoming increasingly common, the importance of cybersecurity has never been more relevant. Researchers, in particular, need to take specific measures to protect their data and infrastructure from cyber threats. To safeguard research and ensure outputs remain secure, it’s crucial to implement strong physical and cybersecurity practices.

As part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the Digital Research Alliance of Canada (DRAC) is hosting several free events to highlight the importance of cybersecurity. This year’s theme, Cybersecurity is Everyone’s Responsibility, underscores the need for collective action. DRAC plays a vital role in integrating, promoting, and funding the infrastructure and activities essential for research data management, research software, and advanced research computing in Canada. It also provides an important platform for researchers to access necessary tools and services.

These free online events cover topics ranging from basic cybersecurity hygiene to strategies for securing research data. You can sign up here: https://alliancecan.ca/en/initiatives/cybersecurity
