The Leddy Library is evaluating its subscription to UpToDate. UpToDate is a clinical information point-of-care tool, used by clinicians to access synthesized medical information to aid in decision-making. We license this resource primarily for use by students in the nursing program but it is open to all University of Windsor faculty, students, and staff.
This resource is well used, however, there are other clinical information point-of-care tools on the market and the Library is evaluating whether it makes sense to change subscriptions. This decision will be primarily based on:
- Alignment of the resource with curricular needs for the Faculty of Nursing's programs
- Cost of the resource
DynaMed
We are considering DynaMed as a possible replacement. The trial of DynaMed is active until October 15th. Follow the link to our DynaMed trial page to access the product.
DynaMed is a clinical point-of-care tool that provides synthesized and graded medical information to support clinical decision-making. DynaMed is similar to UpToDate and research on the use of point-of-care tools finds these two products equal in terms:
- ability to achieve accurate answers
- time required for answering clinical questions
- ease of use
- quality of information
- ability to assess level of evidence
- accuracy in clinical answers
