Writing in Philosophy

A philosophical essay can be unique from essays in many other subjects. It tends to focus on the defense of your thesis through clear and careful supporting argumentation, careful exposition of opposing views, and attempts to demonstrate possible weaknesses in those views and arguments.

This guide is intended to point you to resources on the topic of philosophical writing. However, it is crucial that you communicate with your professor about their expectations for your writing. Also be sure to check out the Writing Support Desk located in Leddy Library.
