If an item that a patron would like to borrow is currently checked out by another user, the patron can place a request on that item. Requests can be placed on checked-out library materials by University of Windsor students, faculty and staff.
If an item that a patron requires is due to be returned to the library within a week, a request can be placed on that item. This means that the person requesting the item will be next to borrow it when it is returned to the library. The current borrower will not be able allowed to renew the item. When returned to the library, the item will be held at the circulation desk for 5 days and the patron requesting the book may pick it up during that time period.
If an item that a patron requires is due more than 7 days from the current date, a request can be placed on that item. This means that the person currently borrowing the item will be asked to return the item within 7 days. The item will then be kept at the circulation desk for 5 days so that the patron requesting the item can pick it up.

• Requests can be placed on items that are checked out, in process, or on order
If a patron receives a request notice for a book, the new request due date supersedes the original due date. This will not be less than 7 days from the day the books was checked out. The patron will be responsible for returning the book by the new date or be subject to overdue fines.
