Leddy News

Write Your Novel at Leddy this November!

Have you always wanted to write a novel? This November, you can write your book at the Leddy Library!

November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).  NaNoWriMo is a non-profit organization that fosters community and support in creative endeavours.

The challenge is this: write a 50,000-word novel in 30 days! So many people get bogged down worrying about grammar and writing poignant prose that they can’t finish a novel.  Write your first draft during NaNoWriMo, and the editing can wait until December!

Discontinuation of Safari Books

Safari Books discontinued
Safari Books, a package of 299 technology e-books from O’Reilly Media, has been discontinued by the vendor and is no longer available to students, faculty and staff. O’Reilly has replaced the previous package with a new e-learning platform, similar to Lynda.com. The University of Windsor already provides free access to Lynda.com for students, faculty and staff!

Have you met your librarian?

Here at the Leddy Library, we’re gearing up for a large group of new students to flock to the library!  We have lots of resources—from research help to assistance with finding data and statistics. But did you know that every discipline has their very own librarian?

Our information services librarians liaise with different departments, and they can help you to succeed here at the University of Windsor. They can assist you in finding relevant, scholarly resources for your papers, figuring out how to navigate databases, evaluating resources, and much more!

We would like your feedback on a new collaborative space in the library

The UWill Discover Student Research Collaboratory@Leddy will provide the University of Windsor’s most inquisitive minds with state-of-the-art dynamic space to share their findings and develop collaborative relationships with partners from across campus and globally. This innovative digital space will serve not only as a virtual window to the world, but also as a physical community encouraging collaborative communities of inquiry and knowledge creation.

Free Button-Making is Back!

WHEN: Thursday, June 21 from 2-4 PM

WHERE: Leddy Library’s ground floor, just when you walk into the library. You can’t miss it!

WHY: Release all your stress and worry into a button and then wear it with pride.

We will have magazines, coloured paper and markers for the creative types, and if you want to bring your own picture, you can do that too!  The diameter of a button printout is 2.56”.  Be sure to allow for the edge of the paper to curl under during the making of a button (the actual button ends up being 2.2”).
