Install Foxy Leddy Libx Toolbar now: (for Firefox or Internet Explorer)
What is LibX?
Toolbar: LibX is a Firefox toolbar that allows you to quickly search the University of Windsor's Library Catalogue, the E-Journal list, Scholars Portal, and Google Scholar
Right-click menu: when you have installed LibX you can highlight text on a web page or PDF and right-click for a menu of search options
Embedded cues: LibX will embed links of search results in Amazon, Chapters, Google Scholar, NYT Book Reviews, Books in Print, Wikipedia and other sites that will lead you to books and articles from the University of Windsor
AutoLinks: LibX automatically links ISBNs, ISSNs, PubMed IDs and DOIs to the University of Windsor's print and licensed e-resources.
Enter search words in the box in the LibX toolbar. The University of Windsor's Library catalogue is the default setting but you can switch your search to Scholars Portal, our E-Journal collection, or Google Scholar. You can search by multiple terms in different fields (author, title, keyword, etc.) and by clicking on the down arrow down arrow you can add additional search boxes. Which fields can be searched changes based on which database is being searched.
Highlight text on a web page or PDF document and right-click to get the following menu:
Alternatively, instead of right-clicking, you can drag and drop the selected text into the search box on the toolbar, or directly onto the Google Scholar button (which will immediately run a Scholar search). Tip: Be sure to set "University of Windsor (Full text @ Leddy)" as your Library Link in Google Scholar Preferences.
From this menu you can also get off-campus access to University of Windsor licensed resources by reloading the page via our EZProxy server. Should you happen upon a restricted resource while working off campus before connecting through the library's authentication service, use the right-click context menu and select the "Reload this Page via EZProxy" option and you will be taken to the login page and then returned directly to the restricted resource.
LibX places the UWindsor icon uwindsor cue in web pages such as:
- Amazon.com, Amazon.ca
- Barnes & Noble
- Global Books in Print
- New York Times Book Reviews
Click on the cue to get online access to the article or to see if the University of Windsor owns the book.
LibX automatically links ISBNs, ISSNs, PubMed IDs and DOIs to The University of Windsor's print and licensed e-resources.
If Firefox displays a message below the toolbars "To protect your computer, Firefox prevented this site... from installing software on your computer" then press the button labeled "Edit Options..." and click "Allow" and add libraries.mit.edu to the list of websites from which extensions may be installed. Then click "OK" and visit the "Install" link again.
If you are having a problem where the installation dialog doesn't come up at all, it's possible that there may be a conflict with one of your other Firefox extensions. Try disabling other extensions until you can install this one. (In the Firefox "Tools" menu, select "Extensions").
