The Guidelines provide a basic summary of copyright law, and sets out the legal obligations and guidelines regarding copyright in a way that is intended to provide assistance to help you understand what you can and cannot do with copyrighted works. A flowchart is provided to assist in assessing copyright concerns before copying.

Copyright Requirements for Faculty and Staff

The University of Windsor is committed to ensuring learning, research and teaching activities are conducted in a copyright compliant fashion.  This document sets out the university's requirements regarding copyright, which faculty members and staff must adhere to in order to comply with copyright laws.

Campus Fair Dealing Policy

In 2011 the University of Windsor implemented a Fair Dealing Policy as an administrative directive. The current revision has been recommended for adoption by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) to all member institutions. The revision reflects changes resulting from the enactment of the Copyright Modernization Act (S.C. 2012, c.20) which amends the Copyright Act to, among other things, allow educators and students to make greater use of copyright material.

These Copying Guidelines summarize the Fair Dealing Policy in force at the University of Windsor. They are specific to the activities of faculty & staff engaged in teaching and research on campus.
