Finding Review Articles

Review articles are critical evaluations of all of the research that has already been published on a specific topic. They often provide a good overview of a topic. These are some journals that publish review articles in this field.

  • Chemical Reviews
Provides comprehensive, authoritative, critical, and readable reviews of important recent research in organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, theoretical, and biological chemistry. This journal also publishes thematic issues focusing on a single theme or direction of emerging research.

  • Chemical Society Reviews
Includes short, introductory reviews on topics of current interest in the chemical sciences from the Royal Society of Chemistry.

  • Annual Review of Analytical Chemistry
Provides a perspective on the field of analytical chemistry, drawing from disciplines as diverse as biology, physics, and engineering, with analytical chemistry as the unifying theme.

  • Annual Review of Biochemistry
Publishes original critical reviews of the significant primary literature and current developments in biochemistry. Sets the standard for review articles in biological chemistry and molecular biology.

  • Annual Review of Physical Chemistry
Reviews filter and synthesize primary research to identify the principal contributions in the field of physical chemistry, including biophysical chemistry, chemical kinetics, colloids, electrochemistry, geochemistry and cosmochemistry, chemistry of atmosphere and climate, laser chemistry and ultrafast processes, the liquid state, magnetic resonance, physical organic chemistry, and polymers and macromolecules.

  • Accounts of Chemical Research
Includes short, concise and critical articles offering easy-to-read overviews of basic research and applications in all areas of chemistry and biochemistry. These short reviews focus on research from the author’s own laboratory and are designed to teach the reader about a research project. This journal also publishes commentaries that provide an informed opinion on a current research problem.
