The University of Windsor has access to the following Compustat databases available on the Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) platform:
Standard and Poor's Compustat North America includes data on 24,328 companies (11,640 active and 12,688 inactive). The data history includes: annual data (1950 onwards), quarterly data (1962 onwards), segment data (1978 onwards), and monthly stock price and dividend history (1962 onwards). In addition, there is U.S. bank data for active companies: annual (1987 onwards) and quarterly (1995 onwards). The University also has access to the executive compensation data.
Standard and Poor's Compustat Global includes data on 22,657 companies (16,660 active and 5,997 inactive). It includes companies in more than 80 countries, representing over 90% of the world's market capitalization, including coverage of over 96% of European market capitalization and 88% of Asian market capitalization.
The data is for use by University of Windsor faculty, staff, and students - for research, teaching, and study purposes only.
General access to Compustat via WRDS: use this for basic research, teaching and study purposes and if only occasional access is required.
Users will be asked to enter their University of Windsor email account. WRDS will then send an email message to the account to verify that the account is valid. This email will contain an Access Pass link which the user can click on to get direct access into WRDS.
Register/Login to Compustat with your WRDS account: faculty, staff, PhD students, and research assistants may also request a WRDS account. An account allows unlimited access via the web, SSH, and/or FTP. It also includes 750 MB of home/projects storage.
