The Humanities Research Group and the University of Windsor welcomes Dr. Francoise Baylis for two events this week:
An Evening with Dr. Francoise Baylis - Thurs. March 5th, 7p.m. @ McPherson Lounge and a Bioethics Seminar with Dr. Baylis - Fri., March 6th, 10a.m. @ McPherson Lounge.
Some notable information on Dr. Baylis:
- Received a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University in Political Science and Government, and a PhD from Western University with a specialization in Bioethics
- Primary appointment: Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University with cross-appointments in the Department of Philosophy and Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Research: ethical issues in women’s health particularly in human reproduction and research participation
- Elected fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences
- She is a frequent guest on CBC and Radio Canada and the author of many news stories with a “behind the scenes” look at ethical issues.
- Author of a number of journal articles such as “Fake it till you make it: Policymaking and assisted human reproduction in Canada,” “The ethics of creating children with three genetic parents,” “The demise of Assisted Human Reproduction Canada” etc.

- Baylis is a part of the editorial team at Impact Ethics, a blog which “is a forum for discussion of and commentary on bioethical issues, presenting a diverse range of voices and perspectives.”
